Terms & Conditions

Please read carefully before placing your order with Mum’s Baking.

Please note: By paying your deposit or completing full payment for any order, you confirm that you have read and agree to all Mum’s Baking terms and conditions. These terms may be updated at any time without prior notice.

Agreement to Terms & Conditions

By placing an order — through our website, via invoice, or in person — you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to all of Mum’s Baking’s terms and conditions.

These terms apply to all orders, products, and services. Mum’s Baking reserves the right to amend these terms at any time without notice. It is your responsibility to review them before each order.

Allergies & Dietary Requirements

Mum’s Baking accommodates gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, and egg-free preferences. Please read the following carefully before ordering.

Important: Our kitchen is NOT a dedicated allergen-free environment. Cross-contamination is possible. We do NOT cater for vegan AND gluten-free combined.

Cross-Contamination

While every care is taken, we cannot guarantee the complete absence of allergens in any product. Please consider this carefully when ordering for guests with severe allergies.

Allergy Responsibility

Mum’s Baking does not accept responsibility for allergy-related reactions or outcomes. We are unable to cater for severe or anaphylactic allergies. By ordering an allergen-specific product, you acknowledge and accept this risk.

Order Confirmation & Payment

Deposits — Invoice Orders

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. Your order is not confirmed until the deposit is received.

Remaining Balance

The balance must be paid in full 7 days prior to your pickup or delivery date, unless otherwise agreed. You may also pay in full at the time of booking.

Payment Methods

  • Direct bank transfer — funds required within 30 minutes. Unpaid orders will be cancelled without notice.
  • Online checkout via our website
  • Afterpay and other supported credit platforms
  • Credit card — please advise at time of booking

Online Orders

Full payment is required upfront. Orders are only processed once payment is confirmed.

Changes After Ordering

We ask all clients to finalise order details before confirming. Once your invoice is issued, it is assumed you are satisfied with all prices, quantities, design, and dates.

Administration Fee

A $11 administration fee applies to changes made to a confirmed order without a valid reason, covering run sheet updates, re-issued invoices, and extra admin time.

Design Components Already Made

If a design element (topper, fondant detail, icing, etc.) has already been created before a change is requested, an additional materials and labour fee will apply.

Adding Items

Additional items may be added subject to availability and sufficient notice.

Order Cancellations & Rescheduling

The following conditions apply unless extenuating circumstances are supported with documentation.

Invoice Orders

Cancelling an invoiced order results in forfeiture of your non-refundable deposit.

Online Shop Orders

A refund minus 25% of the product price is issued if at least 7 days’ notice is given and no products have been made. Store credit can be issued instead, though a $25 administration fee still applies.

Late Cancellations

Cancellations within 3 days of collection or delivery result in forfeiture of the full order amount.

Missed Collections

If you do not attend your scheduled collection, we may not be available until the next business day. Refunds are not provided for uncollected orders.

Rescheduling

Requests must be made in writing during business hours with sufficient notice. New dates are subject to availability and deposits may not be transferable.

Refunds & Satisfaction

Design, Colour & Decoration

Refunds are not issued for dissatisfaction with design, colour shade, or general decoration. It is the client’s responsibility to clearly communicate preferences at the time of ordering.

Flavour & Quality Concerns

Flavour-related refund requests are assessed at our team’s discretion. The product must be returned within 5 days of collection. Refunds cannot be issued for consumed products. We recommend ordering a tasting box before placing a larger order.

At the Time of Pickup

If you are unhappy at pickup, please raise it immediately so we can resolve the issue on the spot. This opportunity may not be available if someone else collects on your behalf.

Damage After Collection

Mum’s Baking accepts no responsibility for damage after the order has left our premises. We may assist with repairs subject to availability. Please handle tall or multi-tier cakes with extra care.

Fees & Charges

The following fees cover our operational costs and help us continue to run smoothly as a small business:

  • Order Change Fee — $11: For changes to confirmed orders, covering run sheet updates and re-issued invoices.
  • Refund Admin Fee: Applies when availability is disregarded or orders are cancelled, covering payment processing and admin time.
  • Weekly Rush Fee — $11: For orders placed after our weekly cut-off (Monday 5:00 PM AWST, through to and including the following Tuesday).
  • Same-Day Rush Fee — $25: For orders required within 24 hours.

Order Pickup & Delivery

Pickup

  • Orders must be collected at the agreed time — our schedule is strict due to multiple concurrent orders.
  • Late arrivals may need to return later or arrange courier delivery at their own cost.
  • We send reminders to ensure all customers are aware of their collection time.

Delivery

  • Please ensure someone is available to receive the order at the agreed delivery window.
  • Include a full address including building or business name where applicable.
  • If no one is available and no esky bag is provided, your order will be left in the safest possible location.
  • Delivery times are estimates; a more specific window will be confirmed closer to your date.
Mum’s Baking cannot guarantee product freshness if insufficient notice is given for changes to pickup or delivery times.

Design & Creative Process

Mum’s Baking values originality. Inspiration images are used as reference only — we do not replicate another artist’s work. Every product we create is unique, even when inspired by our own previous designs.

Decorative Elements

Some decorative toppers may contain wires or toothpicks for structural support. These must be carefully removed before cutting and serving.

Licensed Characters & Trademarks

We do not produce or sell cakes featuring copyrighted characters, logos, or brand imagery. All designs are created in our own artistic style using general themes and colour palettes. Mum’s Baking is not affiliated with or endorsed by any brand, company, or character.

Fresh Flower Policy
+

For a perfect floral match, we recommend your florist supply the flowers for your cake. While we do our best to match inspiration images, using your own florist ensures consistency with your event arrangements.

  • If your florist is supplying cake flowers, please ensure they have access to your cake inspiration images.
  • We cannot be held liable for design discrepancies caused by miscommunication between you and your florist.

Cake Stand Hire
+

A selection of cake stands is available for hire, exclusively for Mum’s Baking cake customers.

Bond

A $50 refundable bond is required. This is returned upon receipt of the stand in its original condition. Stands are collected or delivered alongside your cake order.

Return Deadline

Stands must be returned to our studio on or before the Thursday of the week following your event.

Late Returns

A second hire fee will be invoiced for any stand returned after the deadline. Late returns may impact other customers’ events.

Storage, Freezing & Cake Care
+

Once your order leaves our premises, Mum’s Baking cannot be held responsible for any damage. Please follow our storage guidelines carefully.

Refrigeration

Cakes stay fresh in the fridge for 3–5 days. Cakes with flowers or fondant should be collected and consumed on the day of your event. Number cakes and cupcakes are best collected on the day of consumption.

Serving — Allow to Reach Room Temperature

  • Over 30°C: Display 1–2 hours before cutting
  • 25–30°C: Display 3–4 hours before cutting
  • Below 25°C: Display 6–8 hours before cutting

Multi-tier cakes are constructed to stand for 8–10 hours at room temperature. Our buttercream-based cakes taste best softened to room temperature — firm when refrigerated, beautifully smooth when rested.

Freezing

  • Cakes: Airtight container, up to 30 days (bridal customers have stored up to 1 year)
  • Cookies: 4–6 weeks at room temperature in original packaging; longer when frozen
  • Cupcakes: Can be frozen to enjoy later
